The Gee-Gees play host this weekend to the Montreal Carabin Friday, Nov. 12 at 7 p.m. and the Concordia Stingers Sunday, Nov. 14 at 2 p.m.
The Gee-Gees are coming off a weekend where they split their road games, losing to McGill 4-1 before beating Bishop's University 5-2. A hat trick by Gee-Gees' captain, Christine Deaudelin, was crucial to the victory Saturday night that included two goals in the first period. Ottawa rookie netminder Mahika Sarrazin picked up her first win as a Gee-Gee, stopping 25 of the 27 shots she faced. They come into this weekend fourth in the RSEQ with a 2-2 record, level with Carleton.
The Carabins have started the year slowly, only picking up one win through their first four games. They currently sit last in the RSEQ tied on points with Bishop's. Last weekend saw the Carabin pick up their first win of the season, 5-1 over the Carleton Ravens with Carabin rookie Audrey-Anne Veillette scoring twice. They were then shut out by Concordia on Sunday – it was the second time this season that the Carabin have failed to score. The Gee-Gees last played the Carabin on Feb. 12, 2020, losing that one in overtime 3-2.
The Gee-Gees will then host the Stinger on home ice for the first time this season. In the second meeting of the two teams, the Gee-Gees will hope that they can repeat the result they had in Montreal to start the season, a 2-1 overtime triumph with Ariane Aubin scoring the winner. Concordia is coming off an undefeated weekend beating Bishop's 4-0 before shutting out the Carabin. Marie-Pascale Bernier had a red-hot weekend finding the back of the net three times, twice against Bishop's. They currently sit second place in the RSEQ, three points adrift from McGill who is still yet to lose this season.
