The women's hockey team saw home ice twice this weekend at Minto Sports Complex, facing off against the Montréal Carabins (0-1) and the McGill Martlets (4-1).
The Gee-Gees started the weekend off with a matchup against the Montréal Carabins. Despite a hard-fought battle and 23 saves from Aurélie Dubuc, Ottawa came up short.
The team shifted gears on Sunday while taking on the McGill Martlets.
The first two periods left teams tied. Although the first period saw no score, Jade Todd and Kathleen Reedman worked the puck from the point to Alèxe Clavelle, who scored a power play goal in the second period of play. Before the end of the period, however, the Martlets would put one in to tie it up.

Three unanswered goals in the third put the Gee-Gees back in the win column. First, a cross-crease pass from Kate Maclean to Arianne Gagnon gave the Gee-Gees the lead. Then, less than a minute later, Abygail Moloughney capitalized on the team's momentum and added a tally. Katherine Birkby would soon get in on the action, putting in a one-timer from Béatrice Bilodeau to extend the lead.
"We were very pleased with our effort throughout the game, especially in the third period," said Gee-Gees head coach Chelsea Grills. "We're happy with the result and looking forward to a couple of good tests against Carleton and Concordia next weekend."
This is the first time in program history the Gee-Gees have swept the Martlets in regular season play. Fitting, considering McGill has eliminated Ottawa from the playoffs in five of the last seven campaigns.
Moloughney's goal was her 16th marker of the season and 24th point. She moves into fourth place in the program's all-time single season points list, surpassing Mélodie Bouchard's 2016-17 season (10-13-23 in 18 games). Karine Bombardier holds the record with 41 points (23 goals, 18 assists) in 20 games in 2000-01.
Ottawa will face off against their cross-town rivals at the Carleton Ice House on Friday, and then return home to Minto Sports Complex against Concordia on Sunday. Tickets are available at tickets.geegees.ca.
