Three Gee-Gees named All-Canadians, led by Ketsia Kamba
The 2022 U SPORTS All-Canadian teams were announced for women's rugby on Thursday night in Victoria, B.C. as teams gathered at the U SPORTS National Awards ceremony. Ketsia Kamba was named to the First Team of All-Canadians, with Claire Gallagher and Georgia Stewart named to the Second Team.
Kamba tied for the Gee-Gees lead in tries scored in regular season play with eight and followed up with two more in the RSEQ playoffs. The third-year lock is a Communications and Sociology student from Burlington, Ont., and serves as a key leader for the Garnet and Grey on and off the field.
Claire Gallagher, a fourth-year Health Sciences student from Caledon, Ont., returns to the Second Team of All-Canadians for the second straight year. The fly half led the Gee-Gees in scoring with 66 points on 24 converts and three tries in regular season play, setting a career high in points.
Georgia Stewart, a fifth-year Master's of Health Sciences student from Douro-Dummer, Ont., takes Second Team All-Canadian honours at flanker as her experience shone through this season. A rookie in 2017 when Ottawa captured the national championship banner, Stewart returned to the pitch this season after a two-year hiatus and proved she hadn't missed a beat.
The honours mark the fifth straight season and sixth time total that uOttawa has seen multiple team members named to the All-Canadian teams. This year's trio brings the program's all-time number of recipients to 24.
