From the University of Ottawa's Fulcrum in advance of the championship:
VOLLEYBALL TEAM TO CANADIAN FINALS
The U of O team has had fantastic success over the past years in volley-ball. They have won the league tournament 10 out of the last 12 years and have been in the Canadian finals six times. They have never won the Canadian final. This past weekend, the team consisting of Jean Marc Angrognon, Tom Mes, Mike Swords, Jean-Paul Delisle, George Zourokovski, Guy Jeanveau and Marcel Desjardins clinched the Ottawa Valley Regional Division by winning the competition at the RA centre between the RA, Army, Kingston, Smith's Falls, Petawawa and U of O. Father Duguay, in his twentieth year of coaching the U of O team said that ''the weekend match was the best my team has played in 20 years."
After 20 years of coaching, one would have to accept Father Duguay's comment as the gospel truth. Our volleyball teams certainly have produced a record to be proud of and success this weekend would bring our university national recognition. Good luck -Bonne chance!
