Four Gee-Gees named RSEQ All-Stars following historic season
The best-ever season for the Gee-Gees in RSEQ play was capped with four players named to the conference all-star teams. Gee-Gees veteran Theo Espagnol was selected for the second time in his career, with the three others earning their first conference recognition.
Espagnol, a Financial Mathematics and Economics student from Clermont-Ferrand, France, was named to the RSEQ First Team of All-Stars for the second straight season. Playing at hooker in his fourth season with the Garnet and Grey, the veteran was a consistent presence and notched three tries to set a career high.
Jacob Harries, a lock from Calgary, Alta., is also a senior team member but earns his first RSEQ All-Star, joining Espagnol on the First Team. The History and Political Science student recorded two tries during the regular season, also a career high in his fourth season.
Evan Roy, a prop from Ottawa out of Gloucester High School made an impact while in his first year of eligibility for the Garnet and Grey, leading the squad with five tries scored during the regular season. He was named to the RSEQ First Team.
Connor Billo, a flanker from Ottawa and a grad of Sacred Heart C.H.S.. Billo is a history student in his third year of eligibility. He was selected to the RSEQ Second Team of All-Stars and scored two tries for Ottawa this season.
The Gee-Gees recorded a 6-1 regular season record, good for second place in the conference, and advanced to the RSEQ Championship for the first time in program history.
