GAME NOTES:
-
In the last meeting between Ottawa and Montreal, the Gee-Gees came away with a stunning win over the then nationally ranked Carabins at CEPSUM in Montreal. In a five-set thriller, the teams traded set wins until the Gee-Gees downed their hosts by a 15-13 final tally in the fifth frame.
-
The Carabins are the rank first in the RSEQ and fourth in the nation in service aces per set with 2.52. The Gee-Gees will have to pay particular attention on serve receive to limit one of Montreal's key offensive weapons.
-
Ottawa has done well defending at the net, ranking third in the conference in blocks, including a second rank in the nation in solo blocks (70).
-
With 14 matches played, the Gee-Gees only have four matches remaining in the regular season, each of which being key for the team's path to a playoff spot. With Montreal, Sherbrooke, Laval, and UQTR ahead, Sherbrooke is the only team in the group that the Gee-Gees have not defeated this season. A successful final run could have Ottawa in the postseason.
