Alie-Lamarche returns to lead Gee-Gees at Capital XC
A consistent top finisher for the Gee-Gees cross country team, André Alie-Lamarche made his return on the weekend. His seventh place finish at the Capital XC event on Saturday helped lift the Garnet and Grey men's team to a third place finish in the team standings.
Lamarche crossed the finish line with a time of 19.27.34 over the six kilometre course at Mooney's Bay. He was backed up by another strong performance from fellow third-year Adrian Fournier, who led the Gees in the season's opening meet at McGill. Fournier finished in eleventh place on Saturday, beating out a pair of McGill runners. However, the Redbirds edged the Gee-Gees in the team standings with five top 20 finishers.
Stephen Robinson placed 25th for the Garnet and Grey, followed by Gavin Westbrook (48), Nicolas Abanto Enns (54), Nathan Meraw (57), Colby Frost (60), and Nikita Neyshtadt (63).
For the women's team, first-year Kylee Fowler was the top finisher with a time of 25:58.75 to cross the line in 37th overall. She was followed by Skye Pellerin and Tiarra Ward who finished 43rd and 44th, respectively, and Elana Tyman in 46th.
