Bio

Head coach of the Gee-Gees in 1976-77, John Scobie recorded a 14-4 record and led the Gee-Gees to their second OWIAA bronze medal win. The team was 12-3 in regular season play, and 2-1 in the postseason.

Scobie was inducted into the Hall of Fame in recognition of his mentorship of coaches in Ottawa over his career, which also included serving as head coach of the Gee-Gees men's team in 1977-78 and the Carleton women's team for four seasons (1983-85 and 2000-02). He was also a coach with the Ottawa Rookies, an early club which was crucial to the development of high level girls club basketball in the city. He recieved the Ottawa Sports Awards Lifetime Award for Coaching in 2008.
