PLAYOFF PREVIEW: Gee-Gees welcome Badgers in OUA Quarterfinal battle
While the Gee-Gees men's basketball enjoyed a first-round bye, the Brock Badgers upset the Carleton Ravens on Wednesday night, earning the right to face off against the Gee-Gees in the OUA Quarterfinal round.
Ottawa finished the regular season 19-3, spending the season in the top three of the U SPORTS national rankings. Brock went 11-11 in the regular season and saw forward, Jordan Tchuente lead the OUA with 9.1 rebounds per game.
In November, the Badgers visited Montpetit Hall as part of the regular season schedule. While the Badgers had taken an early lead, the Gee-Gees shut them down in the final quarter, holding them to only seven points. Ottawa took the win 73-63.
The Gee-Gees have seen production from throughout the lineup, but it's Brock Newton who has led the way with 17 points per game. Justin Ndjock-Tadore follows with 14.2 points per game, and senior, Kevin Otoo with 13.5. Otoo has proven to be a danger to opposing offences, logging an average of 2.4 steals per game.
Dragan Stajic continues to be the facilitator of the team, contributing 5.9 assists and 5.8 rebounds per game. A long list of Gee-Gees have stepped up to have big games this season, and there is sure to be a big performance in the playoffs.
