Bio

L'Africain became the lead assistant coach in 2018 after a landmark five-year career for the Gee-Gees from 2011-2016. The former point guard led Ottawa’s rise during his five years in garnet and grey, orchestrating a potent and efficient offensive attack from the backcourt to bring Ottawa to the national tournament for four consecutive seasons.

In the 2015-16 season, the Oakville, Ont. native demonstrated the full range of his abilities by leading the Gee-Gees in points (20.4 per game), and assists (101) which were both career highs. He also led the Gee-Gees in minutes (31.4 per game), three-pointers (51 at 41.8 per cent), and free throws (67 at 85.9 per cent), over the course of a 17-2 regular season and added 36 steals at the defensive end. At the end of the season, he was awarded the Mike Moser Memorial Trophy for national Player of the Year.

L'Africain left uOttawa as the team’s all-time leader in assists (406) and ranked fourth all-time in points (1,272).

L'Africain played two professional seasons in Europe before returing to Canada to focus on coaching. He played in Portugal and Slovakia, averaging 14.4 points per game in his final pro season.
