Bio

The second-longest tenured member of the Gee-Gees coaching staff after Patrick Grandmaitre, Matthew Dopud has been a mainstay for the Garnet and Grey since the program’s first season of its re-establishment in 2016-17.

A staff member and goalie coach at Stittsville’s Complete Hockey Development Centre, Dopud began coaching goaltenders when he was 16 years old with Dustin Traylen, the president of the CCHL’s Brockville Braves. He has also previously coached at the bantam AA level in Montreal.

Dopud enjoyed a successful playing career, spending parts of three seasons in the QMJHL with Saint John (2006-07), Rouyn-Noranda (2008-09) and Rimouski (2008-10). He was originally drafted by the Saint John’s Fog Devils in 2006.

The Pointe-Claire, Que., product spent four seasons with the Carleton Ravens, appearing in 50 conference games, with his 2010-11 campaign meriting OUA East and U SPORTS All-Rookie Team honours, along with an OUA First Team All-Star nod in 2010-11.
