Bio

Stevens joins the Gee-Gees as the program’s full-time associate coach for the 2023-24 season. Stevens previously served in a similar capacity at the University of Guelph beginning in 2017.

Initially an assistant coach, Stevens grew to become the associate head coach for the 2019-20 season, working under experienced head coach and one-time Gee-Gees bench boss Shawn Camp. The highlight of Stevens’ time at Guelph came at the hands of the University of Ottawa, as the Gryphons beat the Gee-Gees in the 2020 Queen’s Cup final in triple overtime at the Gryphon Centre Arena.

From Brantford, Ont., Stevens spent five years playing university hockey at Mercyhurst University (2012-14) and Carleton University (2014-17). His junior career included stints with Hamilton and Burlington of the OJHL, Youngstown of the USHL and Pembroke of the CCHL.

Stevens’ younger brothers Michael and Marc both played under Justin at the University of Guelph. Michael was with the Gryphons for five seasons from 2014 to 2019, while Marc played from 2016-20 and was a member of the 2020 Queen’s Cup championship squad.

Justin and his wife Kelsey have a son, Remi, born in 2023.

Previous Gee-Gees men’s hockey full-time associate coaches include Brent Sullivan (2016-21) and Paul Stoykewych (2021-23).
