NEWS : Five Gee-Gees Named to Conference All-Star Teams
The Gee-Gees men's rugby team had five members selected to the RSEQ Conference All-Star Teams for 2023, with three student-athletes selected to the First Team and two named to the Second Team.
Brothers Evan and Glenn Roy were both named to the First Team, along with Jamie Armstrong who is now a three-time All-Star at half-back. Logan Harris and Connor Williams were selected as Second Team All-Stars.
Glenn Roy led the RSEQ in points scored, recording two tries, 18 converts, and 8 penalties over the six-game regular season, amassing 70 points. He was man of the match on three occasions and now holds the Gee-Gees program record for points scored in a single season. Roy is a third-year member of the team from Ottawa, and studies mathematics and economics – this is his first conference recognition.
Evan Roy returns to the First Team of All-Stars for the second straight year, making his mark for the Garnet and Grey in the front row. The third-year mechanical engineering student recorded three tries in the regular season, adding to his career total which including leading Ottawa with five in 2022.
Jamie Armstrong returns to the First Team of All-Stars for the third time in his career, following selections in 2021 and 2019. The fourth-year economics student recorded two tries during the regular season, adding one convert. Armstrong held the previous Gee-Gees record for points scored in a season, with 56 in 2021.
Connor Williams and Logan Harris are both first-time All-Stars. Williams is a senior member of the front row and a communications student from Ottawa. Harris, a second row player, is from Toronto and has been a member of the Gee-Gees rugby squad since 2021. Both players recorded one try this season, and Harris was named the MVP of the Gee-Gees win over Bishop's.
