RECAP: #2 Gee-Gees fall to #1 Laval in Quebec City
Only a week removed from their matchup at Matt Anthony Field, the U SPORTS second-ranked Gee-Gees traveled to Quebec City for a rematch with the U SPORTS top-ranked Laval Rouge et Or.
In a battle between titans, Laval topped the Gee-Gees for the second week in a row, this time by a 17-10 final score.
The Gee-Gees jumped out to a 3-0 lead on a penalty kicked by Claire Gallagher. 12 minutes later, the Ottawa extended their lead on a try from Anna Dodge. Gallagher added the convert to give the Gee-Gees a 10-0 lead heading into halftime.
To start the second half, Laval wasted no time cutting into the Ottawa lead as they marched down the field for a quick try and a made convert.
Afterwards, the Rouge et Or added another try and convert to take the lead mid-way through the second half, before closing off the win with a penalty to make the final tally 17-10.
The Gee-Gees record moves to 1-2 following the thick of their schedule with back-to-back matchups with Laval. The team will now look to get back on track when hosting Concordia (2-1) on Saturday at Matt Anthony Field. The victor of the game will gain significant headway in the hunt for the second seed in the RSEQ playoffs.
Kickoff is set for 11 a.m., tickets are available at tickets.geegees.ca and the game will be streaming live on YouTube.
