PREVIEW: #3 women’s soccer closes regular season home schedule against TMU, Ontario Tech

The Gee-Gees women's soccer team only has four games left on their regular season schedule. Yet to be defeated, the team is on a four-game win streak since their draw with Queen's in September. Ottawa's high-powered offence is ranked second in the OUA in goals, scoring 39 in 8 games (two games behind the leader).

Attention will be on reigning U SPORTS National Player of the Year as she approaches the Gee-Gees record she set in 2022 with 18 regular season goals. With 16 goals registered heading into the weekend, it is possible Provost could make history yet again.

  • Major stat leaders  
  • The last time the Gee-Gees conceded a goal was in their 5-1 win over TMU on Sep. 10th.  
  • Cassandra Provost earned her first hat trick of the season against TMU. She's added two more 3+ goal efforts since then.
  • Jenna Matsukubo and Nibo Dlamini join Provost as key players in Ottawa's offence. All three Gee-Gees are amongst the top ten OUA points leaders, and Provost leads the conference with 18 goals, and Matsukubo is tied for first with 8 assists.

    • Assists: Ivymae Perez – 2    
  • Ivymae Perez was the lone TMU player to score against the Gee-Gees in their last meeting.
  • The last time the teams met on Matt Anthony Field was in the 2021 OUA Quarterfinal where the Gee-Gees took a 2-0 win over the Bold. Cassandra Provost scored Ottawa's second goal.
  • TMU is 2-2 in away games heading into the Ottawa rematch.

  • The Gee-Gees played Ontario Tech twice in 2022, both games recorded 6-0 finishes in favour of the Gee-Gees.
  • This will be the last regular season game on home turf for the 2023 season.
  • Allana Oriente and Provost each scored in their last meeting with Ontario Tech.

    • Shots: Courtney Drew – 14   
  • Fourth in the OUA East standings, Ontario Tech seemingly has had an up and down season. The team is currently on a two-game win streak, but lost three in a row beforehand.
  • Ontario Tech's most decisive win came in a 12-0 win over RMC while their biggest lost was a 6-0 score at the hands of Queen's.
  • Ontario Tech finishes their season with a lot of Ottawa, playing the Gee-Gees and Carleton on Saturday and Sunday. They'll close out their regular season when Carleton travels on Oct. 22.
