RECAP: Men’s rugby defeats Bishop’s to finish regular season undefeated at home
With rain pouring down on Matt Anthony Field, the Gee-Gees were tested in a battle against the Bishop's Gaiters.
Ottawa went into the matchup of 2-1 teams looking to stay undefeated on home turf for the third consecutive regular season. The Gee-Gees succeeded, ending the night with a 29-3 win.
"In greasy conditions when it's wet it's all about your tight five, Evan Roy, Connor Williams, Zach Auger, Wade Marshall, and Logan Harris and they control the game," said Gee-Gees head coach, Andrew Armstrong. "We stole lineout after lineout from them, huge game for our tight five."
Ottawa scored four tries on the night, with Harris being the first to put points on the board for the Gee-Gees. Auger, Jack Chouinard, and Gordie Evans powering their way past the Gaiters for tries of their own.
Glenn Roy added a pair of converts, while Jamie Armstrong kicked one.
"It's indescribably big [to earn wins at home], you go into Carleton at two wins and two losses or three wins and a loss, so this is really really big win," Andrew Armstrong said.
The Gee-Gees face the Carleton Ravens on Oct. 14 where they will look to defend the Pumpkin Bowl against their rivals at 3 p.m.
