Alpine Skiing
The alpine ski team is excited to enter our second season as a competitive club at the University of Ottawa!
The Ottawa region is home to the only alpine university ski team in Ontario. Our race series takes us throughout Quebec against teams from Université Laval, Université McGill, and Université de Montréal. The head coach, Brett Patterson, has been coaching in the Outaouais region for 5 years and in the Escarpment region for 6 years prior. Brett is a personal trainer in Ottawa with a keen eye for biomechanics and technique, and a passion for ski racing. Board members include former Canadian Alpine Ski Team member Patrick Biggs and former National Capital Outaouais team member/coach Gab Bouffard. This year the team is looking for some great racers keen to compete and train with our dedicated student-athletes.
The Ski Team trains on-snow primarily at Camp Fortune Ski Club, with a pre-season camp before the exam period and some training dates at Mont Ste-Marie. There will also be dryland training throughout the fall, primarily on Tuesday evenings.
Training schedule (January-March)
- Tuesday 5-8pm
- Friday 12-3pm
- Saturday 11-3pm
- Sunday 11-3pm
The competition schedule has not yet been finalized, but will consist of 4-5 weekends of FIS races throughout Quebec, plus an additional local race at Camp Fortune/Mont Ste-Marie.
