History
Montpetit Hall, completed in October of 1972, was named after Méderic Montpetit who, in 1949 became the first director of the Institute of Physical Education after his work leading to its establishment. In 1965, the University of Ottawa received more than 50 million dollars to put towards reconsructing the campus. One of the main priorities of this effort was to have a pool in the centre of the institution.
