Bio

Jean-Vincent Posy-Audette’s passion and dynamism is matched only by his football knowledge and skills. Coach JV moved to uOttawa in December of 2015 from the Montreal Alouettes where he was a Defensive Assistant and Special Teams Assistant in 2014 and Pro Scout/Football Operations assistant for the 2015 season. The move to join the Gee-Gees marked a return to U SPORTS football after two years with the Alouettes. An elite two-sport athlete in Track and Field and Football, Posy-Audette was a two-time All-Canadian at defensive back and winner of the Vanier Cup as a player with the Laval Rouge et Or in 1999, before being drafted by the Toronto Argonauts.

After two seasons with the Boatmen, Posy-Audette began teaching physical education at the high school level in the Montréal area and spending time working at the family farm. An innate pedagogue, coaching was a smooth and natural career transition, working with the Montréal Carabins as the special teams coordinator and defensive backs coach in 2002. In 2007 he moved to the Sherbrooke Vert et Or in the same roles for five seasons before evolving to the defensive coordinator in 2012 and 2013. During first season, the team was first in the nation with five defensive touchdowns, sixth in interceptions with 13, and tenth with 23.3 points allowed per game. Between the Carabins, the Vert et Or, and now the Gee-Gees, the 44-year old has nearly 20 seasons of coaching experience in U SPORTS football.

Posy-Audette, who is bilingual, is originally from Port-au-Prince, Haiti, and is a passionate activist for the civil rights movement. He is a humanitarian who serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors for The Foundation for the Sustainable Development of Haiti since 2007. He has attended 6 NFL camps as a guest coach with the Cincinnati Bengals, Detroit Lions and Chicago Bears, and has coached within the Québec provincial team system as defensive coordinator at the U17 level for several years, winning two national championships back-to-back.

Coach JV has seen eight of his protégés on the Gee-Gees defence get drafted in the last three seasons – Jackson Bennett (Hamilton), Ty Cranston (Montreal), Khadim Mbaye (BC), Jamie Harry (BC), and Cody Cranston (Montreal) are now in the CFL. In the 2020 CFL draft, Gee-Gees nation saw Alain Pae (Edmonton), Kyle Rodger (Winnipeg) and Réshaan Davis (Ottawa) get drafted. Other players recruited from Coach JV’s past and who successfully played or are still active in the CFL are Kevin Régimbald and Alex Chevrier (Saskatchewan), Nick Boulay (Ottawa), Will Langlais and Simon Charbonneau (Calgary), to name a few.

Recognized as an excellent recruiter and team builder, Coach JV’s Gee-Gees defence has risen up to become one of the top defensive teams in the country. Ottawa has ranked first in several categories: Defensive TDs (6), Fumble recoveries (18) and Interceptions (17), and were also top three in several major statistical categories from 2016-2019.
