Bio

White is the assistant defensive backs coach in his 16th season overall with the Gee-Gees. An OUA All-Star at the University of Waterloo and football MVP in 1983, White was a 1984 draft pick of the Ottawa Rough Riders. The defensive coordinator for the 2000 Vanier Cup winning Gee-Gees, White has been a powerful force behind numerous legendary Gee-Gees defensive units of the 1990s and 2000s. Beyond his time at the University of Ottawa, White also coached in the CFL with the Ottawa Rough Riders (1996) and Renegades (2003), as well as elsewhere in U SPORTS with the Concordia Stingers.

Focusing on the secondary, White has helped catapult the Gee-Gees defensive backfield into one of the best in the nation since his return to the Garnet and Grey in 2017. Molding All-Star level talent both years, the 2018 secondary unit was responsible for 14 of the team’s nation-leading 17 interceptions. With 236.3 passing yards against per game, the Gee-Gees ranked second in the OUA this season and eighth in the nation.

As he has throughout the last three decades, White dedicates countless hours of time from a busy schedule as a VP Investment Advisor to the Gee-Gees on a volunteer basis. Always focused on player development, he is a through line of tradition in the Gee-Gees program, for his work ‘Whitey’ is beloved by generations of Gee-Gees athletes.
