RECAP: Gee-Gees men’s golf places first at OUA Regional Qualifiers, teeing up Championship push
OSHAWA, Ont. – The Gee-Gees men's golf team is gearing up for a fourth straight OUA medal after an outstanding performance winning the OUA's Regional Qualifiers in Oshawa on Sunday and Monday.
In day one of the qualifier, the Gee-Gees lead the way with the low score of 295. Ottawa was led to the top spot by Nicholas Workun, Jared Coyle, and Spencer Grainger, who all finished tied for second individually with rounds of 72.
On the second day at Oshawa Golf and Curling Club, the Ottawa held onto first place and officially advanced to the OUA golf championship with an overall team score of 599.
Workun finished as the top individual of the two-day event finishing with back-to-back rounds of 72 for a two-day total of 144. Grainger finished tied for fourth, with a total of 147, with Jared Coyle (150), Aiden Coyle (161), and Adam Casar (165) rounding out the Gee-Gees outstanding overall performance.
Up next, the Gee-Gees will take part in the single-round OUA Championship at Cherry Downs Golf Club in Pickering, Ont. on Friday, Oct. 15.
