RECAP: #6 Gee-Gees improve to 2-0 after keeping the Stingers at bay
The Gee-Gees men's rugby team headed to Montreal to meet the Concordia Stingers on Sunday afternoon. Despite a resurgence from the Stingers in the second half, the Gee-Gees stayed on top, taking a 34-22 win to remain undefeated early in the RSEQ season.
Ottawa established a 10-0 lead with a pair of tries in the opening half.
Concordia managed to put three points on the board before halftime, but Ottawa's lead doubled coming out of the half.
Up 24-3 after 45 minutes, things were looking good for the visiting Gee-Gees squad.
The Stingers surged, putting up back-to-back tries within five minutes of each other to cut the Gee-Gees lead to 24-15.
The next 20 minutes were scoreless until Evan Roy broke through the Stingers' defence for one last Gee-Gees try.
Ottawa was able to stay ahead of Concordia to earn a 34-22 victory.
Jamie Armstrong, Connor Billo, Aiden Gregoire, Matthew Robinson, and Roy each scored tries for the Gee-Gees. Emmett Rahiri logged a penalty kick and Glenn Roy kicked three successful converts.
The Gee-Gees are back at home on Sep. 21st to host the 1-1 Bishop's Gaiters. The game kicks off at 6:30 p.m. following the Gee-Gees women's soccer and women's rugby teams.
