The Gee-Gees women's basketball team logged dominant wins over Nipissing and Laurentian on Friday and Saturday, snapping a three-game winless streak.
On Friday, Ottawa powered to a 20-point win, riding a dominant second quarter to a 44-26 lead at halftime, which they closed out for an 80-60 win over Nipissing.
The following afternoon, the Gee-Gees were once again firing on all cylinders, particularly in the first and fourth quarters, where they outscored Laurentian by a combined margin of 44-14. In the end, Ottawa improved their record to 17-4 with a 76-43 win over the Voyageurs.
In the wins, the Gee-Gees were highly efficient from the floor, shooting 42.5% on Friday and 40.7% on Saturday. Against Laurentian, Ottawa hit 13 three-pointers on 41.9% shooting from beyond the arc in the win.
STATS AT A GLANCE:
Against Nipissing, the Gee-Gees had three starters in double figures including a career-high performance for Emily Payne, who had 17 points and seven rebounds. Natsuki Szczokin and Alana Renon added 12 points each, with Szczokin also contributing seven steals, five assists, and three rebounds.
On Saturday, Szczokin posted a career-high 27 points including six three pointers, eight assists, and three rebounds in the win. Oksana Gouchie-Provencher had a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds.
