The Gee-Gees women's hockey team skated to back-to-back wins this weekend against the Concordia Stingers (3-2) and Bishop's Gaiters (3-1).
Ottawa started the weekend off at home for a matchup against the Concordia Stingers, the third-ranked team in the country and the only RSEQ foe they'd yet to beat this season.
Some textbook cycle play from Jade Todd and Katherine Birkby led to Kylie Lalonde getting the Gee-Gees on the board early. Lalonde was not done there, however. The second period saw Lalonde use her speed to secure her second goal of the game, and sixth of the season.
While Lalonde's goals were left unanswered for the first two periods, the Stingers came buzzing in the third to score two back-to-back goals in the first five minutes of play.
Teams remained tied at the end of the third, sending the game into overtime. After successfully killing a penalty, Abygail Moloughney and Jade Todd worked the puck up the ice to give Ariane Minville a cross-crease pass to smash in for the game winner. This was only the second time this season that Concordia has been held to two goals or less.

"We need to keep working hard and stick to our systems with playoffs coming up," said Lalonde after the crucial win.
On Sunday afternoon, the Gee-Gees hit the road to Lennoxville, Que., to face off against the Bishop's Gaiters.
Teams battled back and forth for the first two periods of action, where the Gaiters were the first to the scoreboard by putting one up with only two seconds left in the second period.
The Gee-Gees dominated the third, shutting the Gaiters out of the game by scoring three goals to skate away with a 3-1 victory.
Abygail Moloughney got in on the action, tying up the game after a scramble in front of Gaiter's net.
With less than four minutes remaining, Béatrice Bilodeau deflected a puck into the net from the point to put the Gee-Gees ahead. Moloughney then took the Gaiters out of the game with a third tally. She capitalized on a loose puck in the offensive zone behind the net, executing a forehand-backhand riser to get the puck up and over the Gaiter's goaltender.
The Gee-Gees remain one point behind Montreal for second place in the conference, although they have a game in hand. They'll have the opportunity to overtake Montreal on Friday evening at the Minto Sports Complex. Puck drop is at 7:00 p.m. and tickets are on sale at tickets.geegees.ca.
