The Gee-Gees women's hockey team closed their weekend with two losses, falling to Concordia and Carleton on Friday and Saturday night.
On Friday in Montreal, Ottawa ran into a tough test against the nationally second-ranked Concordia Stingers, who earned a 6-1 win.
The Gee-Gees fell behind early, with the Stingers scoring twice in the first frame. They added another three goals in the second, and their sixth less than a minute into the third period.
Alyssa Bisenthal eventually broke through with Ottawa's lone goal of the night in the final minute of play.
On Saturday, the Gee-Gees looked to rebound against the Carleton Ravens, who were fresh from an impressive win over the Montreal Carabins the night prior. After a back-and-forth battle, Carleton came away victorious 2-1 in double overtime.
Unlike the night before, the Gee-Gees wasted no time drawing first blood in the game, scoring 2:10 into the first period on a powerplay tally by Béatrice Bilodeau. With all things even for the remainder of the first period, Carleton got the equalizer in the second.
The third period and first overtime were unable to break the stalemate, however after taking two penalties in the 4-on-4 period, Carleton was given an extra attacker for nearly two minutes and capitalized on their 5-on-3 opportunity scoring the game winner 39 seconds into the second overtime.
Up next, the Gee-Gees will take to the road on Friday for a matchup with the Montreal Carabins at 7 p.m. before returning home for a rematch with the Stingers at 2 p.m. on Sunday.
