The Gee-Gees women's hockey team took on the Concordia Stingers on Saturday afternoon in Montreal, dropping the game 3-1.
Energy from the game was felt from miles away as Ottawa was hungry to break Concordia's 12-0 streak, especially after their first meeting went to double-overtime before the Stingers eventually took the win.
The first period had quite a slow start. No goals were scored, with sloppy play on both sides.
Concordia scored the first goal of the game within 22 seconds into the second period. Shortly after, the Gee-Gees tied the game as Camille Richard from Concordia scored in her own net. The goal was credited to Catherine Birkby, having been the last one in contact with the puck.
Moments later, Concordia fought to regain the lead, making the score 2-1. The Stingers got another past the Gee-Gees before the buzzer signalled the end of the second period.
The 3-1 score remained unchanged throughout the final 20 minutes of play, and Concordia added another win to their impressive streak while the Gee-Gees move to 4-9 heading into the break.
This game concludes the semester, with the Gee-Gees returning to Minto on Jan. 6, 2024, for a 7 p.m. puck drop against the Martlets.
