The Gee-Gees were in Montreal for a pair of road matches against the Montreal Carabin and the #1 Concordia Stingers. The team kicked off the weekend with 1-0 shutout win against the Carabins before challenging the Stingers on Sunday afternoon.
Ottawa had yet to top Montreal in their previous matchups over the regular season, but goaltender Mahika Sarrazin refused to let the Carabins get the best of the Gee-Gees again. Stopping all 36 shots against her, Sarrazin earned first star honours in the Friday night victory.
With help from Kate MacLean and Kathleen Reedman, Beatrice Bilodeau scored the game's lone goal. The second period score was all the Gee-Gees needed to secure the win.
Taking on the undefeated Stingers was a higher scoring affair. The Gee-Gees had taken the Stingers to overtime in two of their previous meetings, and this was their last opportunity to get a win over them during the regular season.
Concordia got started with a 2-0 lead in the opening twenty minutes, but Florence Lessard put one in for the Gee-Gees before the horn signalled the end of the first period.
The Stingers wasted no time in the second, logging a powerplay goal before a minute could pass. The 3-1 Concordia lead held through the rest of the game.
The Gee-Gees finish off their five-game road swing by facing off against the Carleton Ravens on Feb. 9 before heading over to Montreal to take on the McGill Martlets on Feb. 11.
