The Gee-Gees women's hockey team took their first OUA road trip, heading to Toronto to visit the Toronto Metropolitan University Bold and to have a rematch with the University of Toronto Varsity Blues.
Ottawa came out to a hot start against TMU, scoring a pair of goals in the opening five three minutes. Maelle Laplante logged her first of the season and Arianne Gagnon followed shortly after with her eighth of the year.
The Gee-Gees doubled their two-goal lead in the second as Charley Healey (12:40) and Florence Lessard (15:40) found the back of the net.
TMU managed to get one past Clara Genier, but Ottawa's goaltender saved 33 shots to earn the 4-1 win on Friday night.
On Saturday evening, the Gee-Gees were in Varsity Arena to meet the Varsity Blues. After falling 4-2 in their first meeting, Ottawa was hungry for the win.
The Varsity Blues built a 2-0 lead heading into the final period of action. Ottawa captain Beatrice Bilodeau put one on the board, giving life to the Garnet and Grey.
Toronto was quick to respond, making it 3-1 in the final minutes.
Bilodeau logged another, but with only five seconds left on the clock. The Gee-Gees couldn't find another, and the buzzer signalled the end of the game.
At 3-3, the Gee-Gees rank third in the OUA East after six games. The team returns to Ottawa for a weekend of exciting games, hosting Nipissing and York on Nov. 1 and Nov. 2, respectively.
