The Gee-Gees women's hockey team split their home matchups on the weekend with a 4-3 overtime loss to the #10 Nipissing Lakers on Friday, before bouncing back with a 3-0 win over York on Saturday.
In a back-and-forth affair against Nipissing, the Gee-Gees once again looked extremely competitive against one of the OUA's top teams.
Bolstered by a two-goal effort for Béatrice Bilodeau, Ottawa was nearly able to topple the nationally ranked Lakers. Tori Evans scored her first career goal with less than three minutes left to send the game to overtime.
In the overtime period, despite a feverish push for Ottawa, the Lakers scored just over four minutes in to earn the win. Ottawa goalie Clara Génier faced a tall task, facing 40 shots on the night.
Bouncing back the following afternoon, the Gee-Gees logged a dominant win over the York Lions on Saturday.
Naomi Morin scored twice for Ottawa first in the second period, and then in the third. The Gee-Gees added an empty netter scored by Florence Lessard to put the exclamation point on the win.
Mireille Kingsley earned the shutout in net finishing with 24 saves in the win.
