The University of Ottawa women's hockey team were on the road to face two OUA West opponents. After visits to Laurier and Waterloo, the Gee-Gees added two big results to their record.
On Friday night, Alyssa Biesenthal and Maelle Laplante logged first period goals to give the Gee-Gees a 2-1 lead after the opening 20 minutes. Laplante added another in the third period.
Suyeon Eom, Reece Mepham, and Molly Heighington each found the net to contribute to the 6-2 win.
The following afternoon, the Gee-Gees were in Waterloo to take on the nationally ranked Warriors.
Ottawa got the jump as Laplante skated the puck across the ice for a sneaky, unassisted goal to open the scoring.
Taking a 1-0 lead into the second, it was Tori Evans her logged the next goal. Evans fired it from deep, sending the puck all the way through for a powerplay score.
The Warriors surged late in the second, finding two goals within minutes of each other to tie things up at twos.
Three minutes into the third period, Kate Maloney scored her first of the season to reclaim the Gee-Gees lead. Waterloo wasted no time, responding almost immediately.
The buzzer went, signalling that extra time was needed. Waterloo took the 4-3 win in overtime.
The Gee-Gees are back on the road next weekend to take on the Brock Badgers and the Guelph Gryphons.
