The University of Ottawa Gee-Gee's women's hockey team were on the road this weekend facing off against the Nipissing University Lakers and Yorks University Lions.
Starting in North Bay, Lakers took the win over the Gee-Gees with a final score of 2-3. Ottawa finished the weekend off in Toronto, falling 1-7 against York.
Saturday night, Lakers were the first to on the board partway through the second period after both teams were unable to find the net in the first. The Lakers added to the lead in the third, but Gillian Warren was first to put one on the board for the Gee-Gees with a power play goal.
The Lakers responded shortly after to regain their lead. Arianne Gagnon made a final effort to close the gap, adding another goal for the Gee-Gees to make it a final score of 2-3.
On Sunday night, Gee-Gees made their way to Toronto to face off against York University. The Lions opened the game with a power play goal. The Lions get another past the Gee-Gees in the second leaving the score at 0-2 in the third. Gagnon added a goal for the Gee-Gees in the third, her second of the weekend.
After a hard fought battle, York took the win 1-7.
The Gee-Gees will be on the road again next weekend going up against University of Windsor on Friday night and finishing off the weekend in London playing against Western University.
