The University of Ottawa women's hockey team was on the road this weekend in southern Ontario.
The Gee-Gees kicked off the weekend with a Friday night battle in Windsor where they took home a 2-1 win against the University of Windsor's Lancers. On Saturday afternoon, they faced off against the Western University's Mustangs where earned their second win of the weekend with a score of 4-1.
On Friday night the women had a fast first 20 minutes of hockey. The Gee-Gees scored twice with goals from Kate Maloney and Maelle Laplante. The Lancers logged a goal of their own in the opening period, and both teams were unable to reach the net for the remainder of the contest, resulting in a Gee-Gees 2-1 win.
Again, the following day, the Gee-Gees were first on the board as Florence Lessard snagged the opening goal. The Mustangs were able to get one past the Gee-Gees in the second period, but the Gee-Gees finished off the game with an incredibly strong third period, adding three more goals.
Reece Mepham and Gillian Warren each found the mesh in the third, with Lessard getting her second of the game with an empty net score.
The Gee-Gees return home to host the Queen's Gaels on Thursday, puck drop is at 7pm.
