RECAP: Gee-Gees advance to OUA final in dramatic fashion

On Friday, the Gee-Gees women's soccer team took on the McMaster Marauders in the semifinal round of the OUA Final Four in London, ON with a spot in the OUA Championship game on the line.
In a thrilling final result, the Gee-Gees won 2-1 in penalty kicks.
The teams played a close first half with neither team capitalizing on their opportunities.
That changed in the second half as Mikayla Morton scored in the 62nd minute off a pass from Sophie Curtis. However, the Marauders came back and scored quickly in response.
Ninety minutes proved to not be enough as the teams would stayed tied, needing extra time to determine a victor.
The extra time proved to not be enough as the teams traded chances, but the game would ultimately end in a wild back-and-forth penalty kick shootout.
Despite both goalkeepers making great saves, the Gee-Gees were able to break through after Lauren Da Luz scored to put her team in-front. Margot Shore was a brick wall in net for the Garnet and Grey with four saves on five shots to propel uOttawa to the win.
The Gee-Gees now look ahead to Sunday, when they will play the host Western Mustangs in the OUA Championship final.
