The Gee-Gees women's soccer team concluded their eighth undefeated regular season in program history Friday afternoon.
It wasn't quite the record-tying 12-0 win against RMC from a few weeks ago, but uOttawa nevertheless defeated the Paladins 5-0 on Friday afternoon at Navy Bay in Kingston, Ont.
Rookie forward Allana Oriente scored twice, while senior midfielder Hailey Walsh notched a goal and two assists.
The first half was relatively quiet for the Garnet and Grey, until Walsh broke through in the 40th minute to open the scoring.
Walsh played a key role in the team's second goal, which came shortly after the start of the second half. She found Nibo Dlamini for the latter's first goal since returning from a midseason injury.
The scoring was capped off by Oriente finding the net twice and Ella Chase earning her first career goal as a Gee-Gee.
Goalkeeper Juliann Lacasse made her first league appearance in Garnet and Grey, keeping a clean sheet.
With the victory, the Gee-Gees end the regular season with a 9-0-1 record, the lone blemish coming in a draw to Carleton. They have clinched first place in the entire conference and home field advantage throughout the playoffs, as Nipissing (8-1-0) were the only unbeaten them team left prior to their loss on Friday evening to Toronto
Ottawa will host a playoff quarterfinal matchup on Wednesday, Nov. 3 at Matt Anthony Field. Tickets will be on sale at tickets.geegees.ca.
The opponent for their quarterfinal matchup is yet to be determined, but it will be a team that finished either third or fourth in their OUA division this season.
