RECAP: Gee-Gees fall to Rouge et Or in Quebec City
Riding a high from their victory over the UQTR Patriotes, the Gee-Gees women's volleyball team fell to the Laval Rouge et Or Saturday afternoon in Quebec City.
Laval took the match by a score of three sets to none (25-15, 25-16, 25-22).
As they have for the majority of the season, Ottawa started the match strong. However, the team seemed to stall midway through the first set, as some clutch Laval service gave Ottawa all sorts of trouble.
The second set was much the same as the first, with the Rouge et Or taking it to the Gee-Gees, who could muster just six kills in the frame.
The Garnet and Grey found their footing in the third. The team showed good resolve to bounce back and turn in a competitive final frame. After falling behind 20-13, the team rallied and made things tight down the stretch, but the Rouge et Or eventually closed out the match.
STATS AT A GLANCE
- Tristan Peterson continued her strong play this season, leading the Gee-Gees with eight kills on 28 attacks (a .285 kill percentage).
- Alana Leung packed the stats sheet with four kills, two service aces and five blocks.
- On an encouraging note for the Gee-Gees, they did not commit a single service error in the match.
