Ahead of the 2023-24 season, Carpentier was hired as the Gee-Gees women’s volleyball team’s full-time Head Assistant Coach. Carpentier had been working with the Gee-Gees student-athletes during the latter half of the 2022-23 season. 

An Ottawa product who graduated from École secondaire catholique Franco-Cité, Carpentier will draw on over 15 years of playing and 10 years of coaching experience to play a pivotal role in the overall program operations, recruiting, and day-to-day coaching.

Sophie began honing her skills as a coach while enjoying a successful playing career, joining the Mavericks staff in 2012. She served as a coach and clinician in a variety of roles for over a decade with the Ottawa-based club.

As a player, Carpentier represented Canada at the 2015 FISU Games, Trinity Western University at five straight U SPORTS National Championships (including a National Championship title in 2015), Team Ontario at the 2013 Canada Summer Games and three seasons of professional volleyball in Europe.

Her professional career saw her suit up for AEK Larnaca (Cyprus), EVS Engelholms Volleyball Club (Sweden) and KP BRNO (Czech Republic) between 2017 and 2020.
