Bio

Powell played four years for the Garnet and Grey (1966-69) and one year at Queen's (1970) as a guard and a defensive end and tackle. He coached the offensive line for four years, helping his team to win the 1975 Vanier Cup and the 1995 Yates Cup.

The west-end Ottawa native, Powell Jr. helped build four successful football programs, at Sir Robert Borden High School in Ottawa (1974 Ottawa-Carleton High School Champions), the University of Ottawa (1975 Vanier Cup champions), the Ottawa Sooners (head coach from 1976 to 1981, 1979 National Champions) and the Carleton Ravens (head coach from 1982 to 1989, 1985 OQIFC Champions).
