Potter, who played offensive and defensive end as well as linebacker in his time with uOttawa, was also named the Gee-Gees’ team MVP in 1971. He was drafted with the 15th overall selection by the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in the 1973 draft, but began his 12 year career with the Edmonton Eskimos. With the help of Potter and the rest of a star studded linebacking corps, the Eskimos went on to play in seven Grey Cups and take six Grey Cup victories (197519781979198019811982). Potter won both the Defensive Player of the Game and the Most Valuable Canadian in the 1980 Grey Cup, and was also a CFL All-Star that year.
