Bio

As a five year player (1967-1971), three year coach (1972-1973,1975), and five year vice-president of the 13th Man Alumni Association (1985-1990), Dan Slee and Gee-Gees football have become virtually synonymous.

The only rookie from the 1967 season to start every game, Dan would become a four-time league all-star, two-time all-Canadian, and three year defensive captain. The year 1970 would prove to be Dan’s most successful year as a Gee-Gee player as he would help lead the team all the way to the national final, winning the Ontario Championship and Atlantic Bowl along the way. That year, Dan would also be chosen as the recipient for the University of Ottawa Rolonde Gagné Leadership Award. He would finish up his career as a player in 1971, wining the OUAA Eastern Division Championship with the Gee-Gees.

As a coach, Dan would be an instrumental part of shaping the Gee-Gees football program leading up to the team’s national championship in 1975. Under head coach Don Gilbert, Dan would act as the defensive back coach in 1972 and 1975, and as a defensive coordinator in 1973. In 1975, Dan’s hard work as the defensive back coach would pay off as the team would have an undefeated 11 game season, eventually leading to OUAA, Central Bowl, and National Football Championships.

Dan would continue to be part of the Gee-Gee football family. From 1985-1990, Dan would act as the vice-president of the 13th Man Alumni Association.
