Bio

The leading scorer for Ottawa College's 1896 Dominion Championship team, Gleeson was a "runner and punter supreme." He scored 5 trys and 9 singles in four games in 1896 as the team went undefeated in league play.

In 1897 he scored seven singles in two games, including a game-winning punt against Montreal to secure the provincial title before repeating as Dominion Champions. Gleeson then played the 1899 and 1900 seasons with the Toronto Argonauts, compiling a 7-5-0 record with the Boatmen.

Gleeson returned to the Gee-Gees to lead them once more to a Dominion Championship in 1901 with two field goals in the final game. Gleeson appeared in the 1902 Dominion Final after that year's team went 6-0 in league play. In 1903 Eddie tallied 11 singles and one goal. His brother Joe Gleeson would take over the mantle in 1904, leading the league in scoring with 23 points on 21 singles and one goal.

Eddie Gleeson also won national titles in broad jump and pole vault while at uOttawa, as reported by the Fulcrum when he was inducted as an inaugural member of the Gee-Gees Football Hall of Fame in 1973.

Edward P. Gleeson was inducted into the Ottawa Sport Hall of Fame in 1966 as part of its inaugural class. In all, he won three Dominion Championships with the Garnet and Grey.
