Bio

Rick Zmich played as a QB for the Garnet and Grey from 1979 to 1982. In his last year, he won the Hec Crighton Trophy awarded to the country’s outstanding university football player in1982.  Since the 2013 season, Rick had the most passing yards in a game with 477 against Carleton, completing 29 of his 45 passes in 1981. He also had the most completions in a game with 33 completed passes and the most completed pass in a season with 161 in 1982. He was also a Vanier Cup finalist in 1980.

He then coached football at the Wilfrid Laurier University from 1991 to 2002. In 1995 won the Frank Tindall Award awarded annually to the CIAU Coach of the Year. Rick is the only person in CIAU History to win both of these awards, the Hec Crighton and the Frank Tindall trophy. His record as Head Coach is 20-10-1, in the regular season and 2-3 in the playoffs.
