Bio

The Lennoxville, Quebec native had an extremely successful career in CEGEP, the CIS and the CFL. He started for the Gee-Gees in each of his four years, culminating with Conference and All-Canadian awards. He then played four years with the Toronto Argonauts, including a Grey Cup win in 1997, before finishing his professional football career with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in 2001.

Steven Salter grew up in Lennoxville, Que., and went to Alexander Regional High School where he played his senior year of football in 1989 as a slot back and punter.  Steven then attended Champlain Regional College in 1989 where he played hockey. After a year off from football, Steven decided he no longer wanted to play hockey.  Two weeks prior to training camp, he went to the head coach of the Champlain Cougars CEGEP AAA football team to ask for a tryout.  Steven went on to start every game for the Champlain Cougars for the next three years, being a CEGEP AAA All-Star at tackle in 1991 and All-Star at tackle and punter in 1992.  After being recruited by several Canadian universities, Steven joined the Gee-Gees in 1993, where he was a starter for all four years. During his career with the Gee-Gees, Steven was a three time Conference All-Star, a three time All-Canadian guard (1994-1996), and was the OQIFC nomination for the J.P. Metras Trophy in 1996. Drafted by the Toronto Argonauts in the CFL in 1997, Steven played four years in Toronto, winning a Grey Cup in 1997, before finishing his professional football career with Hamilton in 2001.

Steven works for the Canada Border Services Agency as a Border Services Officer and a Firearm Instructor.  Steven and his wife Josianne have three children Madyson, Nathan and Loganne, and reside in Sherbrooke, Que.
