Bio

Miles Gorrell (born October 16, 1955 in Edmonton, Alberta) started his football career at Henry Wise Wood Senior High School in Calgary. Playing from 1975 to 1977, he was thus a member of the 1975 National Championship Gee-Gees football team. Miles culminated his outstanding career at the University of Ottawa by being named a CIAU All-Canadian in 1976. In 1977, Miles was awarded both the Outstanding Lineman Award and team MVP.

Later on, Miles enjoyed a stellar 19 season career playing in the CFL from 1978 to 1996 for the Calgary Stampeders (1978-1982), Ottawa Rough Riders (1982), Montreal Concordes (1982-1985), Hamilton Tiger-Cats (1985-1991, 1996) and Winnipeg Blue Bombers (1992-1995). This is the longest playing career by a “non-kicker” in CFL history. He is ranked fourth in league history in games played (321 games). He won one Grey Cup with Hamilton and played in two more with Winnipeg. He was a five-time CFL Eastern Division All-Star and a two-time CFL Outstanding Lineman finalist.

From 2005-2010, Gorrell served as a Player Personnel Assistant & Director of Canadian Scouting with the Toronto Argonauts. Gorrell was inducted into the Canadian Football Hall of Fame in 2013. The Gee-Gees honored his historic career by giving his name to a trophy, the Miles Gorrell Award for Best Lineman.
