Michael Robertson and Hannah Sunley-Paisley are uOttawa Varsity Athletes of the Year
On Saturday night the University of Ottawa Sports Services annual varsity athletic banquet was held at the Marriott Hotel. Robertson and Sunley-Paisley were recognized with the 2011-12 Athlete of the Year awards, and all eleven varsity teams recognized their Most Valuable Players.
Leaving with top honours were graduating student-athletes Hannah Sunley-Paisley, Toronto, Ont. and Michael Robertson, Williamstown, Ont. who were named Female and Male athletes of the year. Robertson claimed double-gold medals with the 4x200 and 4x400 meter relay teams at the CIS Track and Field Championships, and also won a silver in his 300 meter individual event.
Matthieu Methot of the men's hockey team won the President's Award for outstanding combination of athletic and academic success, while providing leadership and service to the community. Erika Pouliot of the women's hockey team won the female President's Award.
The Director's Awards were presented to uOttawa athletes who have achieved national recognition with an individual award as a rookie or as a first-team All-Canadian. This year the Gee-Gees where proud to acknowledge 10 athletes who fit that category.
