NEWS: Gee-Gees welcome Aldège Bellefeuille as Football Operations Manager
The University of Ottawa Gee-Gees football team is proud to welcome Aldège Bellefeuille to the team's staff as Football Operations Manager.
The Ottawa native returns to the Gee-Gees after previously playing for the team in 1990-91.
In this role, Bellefeuille will assist in the execution of administrative duties, practice and meeting management, alumni communication, recruiting activities and football community relations.
"As a uOttawa alumnus, I am excited to join my alma mater as Football Operations Manager", said Bellefeuille. "Under the dynamic leadership of Marcel Bellefeuille, the uOttawa football program will have a national prominence for years to come."
Over the past 12 years, Bellefeuille has served in various executive and coaching positions with the Orléans Bengals Football Club. In this capacity, he has seen significant success on the field, with multiple championship wins throughout the years. For Bellefeuille, larger triumphs have come as a result of his steadfast approach of promoting inclusion and valuing balance off the field of play.
Bellefeuille was a key architect of his club's anti-bullying program "Be a Bengal not a Bully", which won the prestigious Royal Ottawa Inspiration Award in 2012. In addition, Bellefeuille created the "Bengals Play90" initiative, which gave each player 90 minutes of high-tempo football drills and 90 minutes of positional training on Saturdays and Sundays during the winter months, all free of charge.
As a result of his volunteer efforts and commitment to making participation in football possible for underserved youth, Bellefeuille was awarded the Governor General's Sovereign Medal for Volunteers (2017), the Brian Kilrea Award for Excellence in Coaching (2018), and the Mayor of Ottawa's City Builder Award (2015).
"I am excited to add Aldège to our football family," said Gee-Gees Football Head Coach Marcel Bellefeuille. "As a member of my family, I have seen firsthand his ability to develop and manage high performance teams. The Gee-Gees football program has taken a major developmental step with this position and the quality of the person we are getting."
A graduate of the University of Ottawa in 1994, Bellefeuille has worked with the federal government for the past 25 years. He has also served as an International Elections Supervisor in Europe (Kosovo, 2001), taught political science at Algonquin College (2002-03), and contributed to a regular column, Suburban View, in the Orléans Star.
Bellefeuille is taking on the role in a volunteer capacity and will be commencing his duties effective immediately.
