- Fresh from a road win at McMaster, Ottawa is hoping to match up well with another team they have not faced since the 2019 season. Three of the Gee-Gees' first four matchups played in the OUA West division in 2021.
- The Gee-Gees and Gryphons have been evenly matched though their past six meetings, with both teams winning three games each dating back to 2016.
- J-P Cimankinda, who began his career at Guelph, currently ranks third in the OUA in rushing yards per game with 100.7. An OUA All-Star and CFL Draft pick in 2021, Cimankinda has enjoyed a high degree of success returning home to Ottawa.
- Willy-Pierre Dimbongi rounds out the second former Gryphon and Ottawa native to lead the Gee-Gees in a major statistic category, leading the team in receiving yards per game (55.7)

- Guelph bounced back from a 0-2 start to the season with a win in a 41-35 shootout at Waterloo. The teams combined for nearly 1,000 yards of offence in the highest scoring affair of the OUA season.
- Through their first three games, Guelph has the second-highest points against in the OUA with 32.3. The Gryphon defence, who gives up the most rushing yards per game in the conference may have their hands full with Ottawa and Cimankinda.
- Gryphons QB Jake Helfrich impressed in his second start, after a quiet first game of Canadian football, the University of South Carolina transfer earned OUA Offensive Player of the Week honours after throwing for 370 yards and tallying 4 total touchdowns (3 passing, 1 rushing)
The Kayembe-Perron Memorial Game recognizes the lives of beloved Gee-Gees football team members Loïc Kayembe and Francis Perron, teammates on the defensive line in 2017 and forever remembered by the family, friends, and community they left behind.
In collaboration with the Kayembe and Perron families, donations in memory of Loïc and Francis, including those received through ticketing on Saturday, will support the two uOttawa scholarships established in their names.
