The Gee-Gees men's hockey team played a pair of exciting games in Ottawa, getting wins against the Toronto Varsity Blues and their crosstown rivals, the Carleton Ravens.
Friday night's matchup welcomed the Varsity Blues to packed house in the Minto Sports Complex. Donning flashy new jerseys for Telfer Night, the Gee-Gees showcased a dominant three periods of action to win 4-1.
Vincent Labelle made his name known, scoring a goal in each period. Labelle's first goal was in the opening 53 seconds. This marks Labelle's first hat trick in the Garnet and Grey.
Aside from Peter Stratis' empty net goal to close out the evening, every goal was a powerplay score on both sides of the ice.
Against Carleton on Sunday evening, the Gee-Gees were looking for revenge against the Ravens after falling to their rivals in their three previous meetings.
Ottawa opened the scoring with a great bounce from David Lafrance.
A scoreless second period transitioned into a thrilling final 20 minutes of action. Bradley Chenier got on the scoreboard quick, finding the net in 54 seconds. Mitch Martin was next, building a three-goal lead for Ottawa.
The Ravens managed to get one past the Gee-Gees, but it didn't change. Charles-Antoine Roy sent in an empty netter to seal the deal.
The Gee-Gees return home on Friday, Feb. 7 to host the Western Mustangs.
