Preview: Head of the Rideau this Sunday
The Gee-Gees rowing team will have its second Ottawa-based event and the biggest in terms of team participation this weekend. The Head of the Rideau runs Sunday with the first race at 8:35 a.m. and the Rideau River course set to close at 4:30 p.m. after a day of varsity, novice, open, master's and juniors competition. The finish line of the course for both 3km and 5km events will be located at the Rideau Canoe Club with views available from Mooney's Bay Beach.
The Gee-Gees will have 16 entries in races over the course of the day, including varsity, junior varsity, and novice varsity categories. The Gee-Gees varsity members will compete in: men's singles, women's singles, men's lightweight singles, men's fours, women's fours, men's doubles, men's lightweight doubles, women's doubles, women's lightweight doubles, and women's varsity eights. The men's novices will compete in the eights.

The Gee-Gees opened the season with the PD Ross Regatta at the Ottawa Rowing Club on the Ottawa river on Sept. 14. The team has one more event, the Head of the Trent, before the OUA Championships on October 25-26, at the Royal Canadian Henley Rowing Course.
