In the final track and field meet of the regular season ahead of the OUA Championships next weekend, the Gee-Gees were able to take advantage of their home facilities and have a solid showing at the Dome at Louis-Riel.
Continuing his landmark season, Stephen Evans set a new school record and personal best in the 600m event, finishing with a time of 1:18.36.
In the women's 600m event, Maeliss Trapeau finished first with a time of 1:30.27, setting a personal best and climbing to second in school history. Madison Clarke finished behind Trapeau in second, finishing with a time of 1:30.98.
The Gee-Gees turned in strong performances in the long distance events Olivia Sidock set a personal best, finishing first in the 1000m with a time of 3:01.33. Keili Shepherd finished third in the 1500m also setting a personal best. Alex Berhe finished first in the 1500m, a previous time of his from 2016 sits at second in school history.
Renee Maisonneuve set a personal best on her way to finishing first in the 3000m event, finishing with a time of 10:32.02 in the longest event of the day. On the men's side, Berhe, who already holds the school record in the event, was unable to eclipse his personal best, however still finished first with a time of 8:29.44.
In hurdles, the Gee-Gees men dominated the 60m event, with Tolu Makinde and Tyler Dacosta finishing first and second setting personal bests with times of 8.73 and 8.74.
In the women's 60m sprint event, Stephanie Gould finished third and set a personal best with a blazing time of 7.79 seconds.
On the field side, Claudine Nafaa won the women's pole vault event, setting a personal best and moving up to third all-time with a 3.21m jump. Heather Smith finished in second, with a 2.76m jump. Joel Desjardins won the men's triple jump event with a 11.88m leap.
Ty Coulter won the weight throw, breaking their own school record in the event with a 15.87m throw. In shot put, Christina Hertner threw for 11.50m to take the win in the event, followed by Grace MacMillan-Sayers, who set a personal best and rose to second in the school record books with a 11.13m throw.
The teams will travel to Windsor for the OUA Championships commencing on Friday. The teams will return for one home meet ahead of nationals on March 3. The U SPORTS Championships will also take place in Windsor from March 8-10.
