OCTOBER 27 vs. Montreal
Despite the boisterous crowd cheering them on in their home opener, it was the visiting Carabins that struck first in the contest.
Alice Fillion responded for the Gee-Gees wiring a shot past the Montreal goaltender to tie the game midway through the second period.
A point shot by Montreal in the final seconds of the frame restored the lead heading into the third period.
As the third period progressed, the Gee-Gees attacked in waves as they fired shots on goal from all areas of the ice, but were consistently stimmed by the Montreal goaltender.
Despite 21 shots on goal overall and five power play opportunities, the Garnet and Grey were unsuccessful in their bid for a comeback.
While they weren't able to score with the net empty, they did foil an opportunity for the Carabins to add to their lead.
STATS AT A GLANCE
- Goaltender Aurélie Dubuc made her second consecutive start between the pipes. She stopped 24 of 26 shots she faced against Montreal.
- The trio of Aubin, Bouchard, and Fillion have combined for 10 points through two games.
WHAT THEY'RE SAYING
"We want to be hard to play against for 60 minutes. Last week against Concordia, this is something the players mentioned this week in meetings, they want to be consistent and keep working hard through the game. We did that tonight. I don't think the score reflects the effort we left out there. We're really proud of the group. It's disappointing to lose without a point again today, after such a great effort. But we're young and we need to focus on the process. Doing the little things every day, keep growing as a group, keep grinding, being hungrier tomorrow and we'll be ready for our next game — Yanick Evola, Head Coach
